The scientific method is based on three pillars of inquiry—theory, experiment and observation, and, in the modern era, computation. But the emergence of fields like quantum, artificial intelligence, and data science signals a new pillar with vast potential.

PillarQ, a research news publication, was created to inform and connect readers who are shaping the future of scientific discovery and innovation via these emerging fields. Follow for news and analysis from the next pillar of science.

PillarQ is published by PillarQ Communications, LLC, founded in 2022 and based in Knoxville, TN.

About the Editor

Before starting PillarQ, Katie Elyce Jones spent more than a decade writing about world-leading science and technology for several Department of Energy national laboratories, from the search for what lies beyond the Standard Model of particle physics to the development of energy-efficient materials and technologies. In particular, she communicated the intersection of science and computing at some of the nation’s top-ranking supercomputing facilities.

As editor of PillarQ, she aims to provide critical research news on this century’s emerging technologies for science and industry. Katie holds a bachelor’s in journalism and a master’s in English and creative writing.
